One of the most important, but basic activities that an individual can do to obtain beautiful, dewy, healthy skin is to consume a balanced and healthy diet. The benefits of a healthy diet not only extend to weigh loss, a healthy heart, and longevity, but to the way, your skin looks and feel. 

When the body is receiving the proper nutrients, it will digest foods better, function more efficiently, and have proper circulation, and the overall functions of the body’s systems will improve. 

This will result in a better appearance of the outer layer of the body, or skin. After all, the skin is considered the largest organ in the human body.

Avoid a diet that is excessive in carbohydrates. Carbs do convert into sugar and lead to weight gain. Healthy fiber and antioxidants found in whole grain products will benefit your skin, and help in the body’s detoxification process. 

A diet low in refined carbohydrates and balanced in whole grains and fiber is much better. Fruits and vegetables will provide some fiber as well, but also beneficial to maintain the elasticity of your skin, as they contain silica - mostly on the skin and peel of the fruit or vegetable, so consume these in a natural state.

Fruits are also full of antioxidants, especially berries, grapes, and fruits of a dark purple color. Citrus fruits are full of vitamin C, another antioxidant that is not only beneficial for the immune system, but for your skin complexion as well. 

It is necessary for the production of the skin collagen, and it is included in many beauty creams and anti aging products. Vitamin C will keep you healthy and glowing.

Eliminate the bad fats from your diet. They clog your arteries and they have no nutritional value. These are the saturated and Trans fats found in some meats, and refined products. 

Instead, replace them by consuming healthy fats found in nuts and seeds, fish, and good oils such as olive oil, sunflower oil, and safflower oil. Fish contains omega 3 oils, which are beneficial for heart health as well. Consume low fat dairy products.

Everything you consume and put inside your body will show up in the way your skin looks. Once you start on your path of consuming healthy and beneficial foods, changes will happen slowly, but you will start feeling healthy and looking radiant on the outside. 

Top a healthy diet with a regimen of moderate exercise and you will have discovered the fountain of youth. Nourishment starts on the inside, it continues on the outside, with the proper skin cleansing, and moisturizing routine tailored to the specific skin type.
